Poems for Adoption, Search and Reunion Page Seven

Take a Deep Breath, Then Begin

(By birth or by adoption
A mother can be a friend.
A new and bright beginning
Shouldn't mean a friendship ends).

I've really loved you, Mother,
Through the years you helped me grow.
You truly are my parent -
I just wanted you to know.

But part of me is missing
Though you and Dad always made
me feel loved. Please take my hand.
I admit I am afraid.
Because today I'm starting
A search to find the "other".
I need to learn my history.
I'd like your blessing, Mother.
