Italian Beef and Pasta 1 cup onion [optional] 3 to 4 cloves garlic 4 cups uncooked noodles 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 pounds lean ground beef 1/2 to 1 teaspoon each of salt, oregano, fennel 2 cups tomato or spaghetti sauce 2 cans mushrooms, drained [optional] 3 cups shredded mozzarella 1 cup grated Parmesan Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 1. Saute vegetables 3 to 5 minutes. 2. Add hamburger and seasoning to vegetables. Cook thoroughly. 3. Mix tomato sauce and drained mushrooms with cooked hamburger. Simmer. 4. Cook noodles. Drain, add olive oil. Stir noodles into the hamburger and sauce mixture. Spray a 9 x 12 baking dish with cooking spray. Layer the hamburger and sauce mixture, alternating with the mozzarella, in the dish. Top with Parmesan. Bake uncovered 35 to 45 minutes, until bubbling and lightly browned.
