Cabbage Rolls 1 large head of cabbage 1 pound ground beef 1 cup cooked, crumbled bacon 1 1/2 cups cooked, cooled rice 1 egg 1/4 cup milk 1/4 cup chopped onions 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper 1 can tomato soup 1/2 cup water 2 Tablespoons brown sugar Remove outer leaves of cabbage. Pour boiling water over them. Let stand till wilted, drain well, and pare down center tough stalks. Combine ground beef, rice, bacon, egg, milk, onion, mustard, salt and pepper. Place heaping spoonful in center of each leaf and wrap envelope fashion. Put rolls in greased baking dish or roaster. Cover with soup and water. Canned tomatoes may be used. Sprinkle with brown sugar, salt and pepper. Add a few chopped onions if desired. Cover and bake at 350 degrees F. for about 1 and 1/2 hours. Add more water if necessary. **My family dislikes cabbage, but they love the meat filling. So I make this recipe, but I layer the cabbage and meat mixture, instead of making the rolls.
